12. Tournament format

General Qualification
2 X 6 games
The two series of 6 games can be improved by re-entries

Early Bird Qualification
To be able to qualify from the Early Bird Qualification, a minimum of two six game blocks must be completed by last squad on Thursday evening.

The qualified players will be assigned pos 25-30 for the men semi-final and 6-7 for the women final.

Scratch Series:

After the final squad ( final ranking), the 4 highest scratch series men who are not in the top 20 and the 6 by Early Bird, also qualify for the finals. The qualified players will be assigned pos 21-24 for the men semi-final and 5 for the women final.


Turbo Qualification
A standing of the highest scores in all games for players having signed-up for participation in the Turbo competition.

The qualified players will be assigned pos 31-32 for the men semi-final and pos 8 for the women final.
Turbo fees must be paid prior to the start of the squad.

Semi-final Men
The 32 players will be divided into four groups of 8 players, each playing a round robin (7 games).

Group position for men :

Yellow: 1-8-9-16-17-24-25-32

Red: 2-7-10-15-18-23-26-31

Blue: 3-6-11-14-19-22-27-30

Green: 4-5-12-13-20-21-28-29

The men qualified in 3rd and 4th positions in each groups will be classified from 9th to 16th pos.

The men qualified in 5th and 6th positions in each groups will be classified from 17th to 24th pos.

The men qualified in 7th and 8th positions in each groups will be classified from 25th to 32th pos.

Final Men

The two first positions of the four groups will play another round robin (7 games) to determine the winner.

Final Women

The eight qualified women will play a round robin to determine the winner.

13. Tournament tie rules

In case of a tie , the winner is the men or woman with the highest scratch score

If a qualified player does not start, an alternate player from the regular qualification list position 21 or lower will be invited. In that case the non starting players qualification position will be awarded to the next following player on the qualification list.

Guidelines for the Tournament Application

The application must be filled in electronically and emailed to Kim Thorsgaard Jensen at the email address ktj@etbf.eu. Only applications received by email will be accepted.

Please use a combination of capital letters and small letters and not capital letters only. This combination is the standard for www.etbf.eu.

Please write in English, since the language of www.etbf.eu is English only.

The guidelines of mandatory fields are marked with blue. The guidelines of optional fields are marked with wine red. The application will not be accepted if any content of mandatory fields is missing.

No matter of the status of each field (mandatory or optional) we recommend you to fill in as many fields as possible for the benefit of your tournament.


Guidelines for the fields in the Tournament Application

01. When applying for adoption in an EBT

01.01 EBT Satellite

The content of the field is only valid, when an official application period for an EBT exists.

The field must be filled with “Yes” if a tournament applies for the EBT Satellite status.

01.02 EBT Silver

The content of the field is only valid, when an official application period for an EBT exists.

The field must be filled with “Yes” if a tournament applies for the EBT Silver status.

01.03 EBT Gold

The content of the field is only valid, when an official application period for an EBT exists.

The field must be filled with “Yes” if a tournament applies for the EBT Gold status.

01.04 EBT Platinum

The content of the field is only valid, when an official application period for an EBT exists.

The field must be filled with “Yes” if a tournament applies for the EBT Platinum status.

02. Website addresses with tournament information

02.01 Tournament website

If filled in, the format is www.xxxxxxxx.xxx (example: www.tournament.com).

The field is mandatory, when the tournament applies for adoption in an EBT.

02.02 Other relevant websites

If filled in, the format is www.xxxxxxxx.xxx (example: www.press.com). The field is used for one or more websites, which for instance will publish results during the tournament.

03. Approval requests

03.01 ETBF Tournament

The field is pre-filled with a Yes. If field 03.02 “WTBA Tournament” is either empty or filled in with a No, only players from ETBF member federations can participate in the tournament and not players from any other zone.

03.02 WTBA Tournament

If you want the tournament to be open for players from other zones than ETBF, then the field must be filled in with a Yes.

When the tournament is approved by ETBF, the application will be forwarded to WTBA by ETBF if field 03.02 “WTBA Tournament” is filled with a Yes. WTBA will inform you, when they have approved the tournament.

04. Tournament information

04.01 Tournament organizer

The field must be filled in with either the full name of the tournament organizer or the name of the organization hosting the tournament.

04.02 Tournament name

The field must be filled in with the full name of the tournament.

04.03 Centre

The field must be filled in with the full name of the centre hosting the tournament.

04.04 City

The field must be filled in with the name of the city where the tournament takes place.

04.05 Federation

The field must be filled in with the name of the Federation where the tournament takes place.

04.06 First day

The field must be filled in with the first day of the tournament (example: 11 June 2007).

04.07 Last day

The field must be filled in with the last day of the tournament (example: 17 June 2007).

05. Tournament delimitations

05.01 Category

The field must be filled in with one out of two possibilities; either with Open or with Invitational if the tournament is limited to certain groups of players.

05.02 Event

The field can include one or more events. For each event the name must be presented in at least two words. The first word can for instance be Singles, Doubles, Trios or Team. The second word can for instance be Women, Men or Mixed.

05.03 Women handicap

If women and men are playing in a mixed division, then the field must be filled in with the handicap, presented as XX pins per game.

05.04 Max women scratch game

This field is only valid if a handicap for women is mentioned in 05.03. The field must then be filled with for instance 300 or less, if the organizer reduces the maximum women scratch game because of the handicap, for instance to 292 if the handicap is 8.

05.05 Other kind of handicaps

If other kind of handicaps, than handicaps for women, exists, then the field must be filled in with the size of the handicaps and to whom they are given.

05.06 Entry fee

The field must be filled in first mentioning the currency, then the size of the fee (example, € 100). If more fees, each fee must be mentioned (example: Singles Women € 100 / Singles Men € 150).

05.07 Re-entry fee

If re-entries are possible, then the field must be filled in; first mentioning the currency, then the size of the fee. If more fees, then each fee must be mentioned.

05.08 Desperado fee

If a desperado squad exists, then the field is must be filled in; first mentioning the currency, then the size of the fee.

06. Tournament contact

06.01 Contact person

The field must be filled in with at least one contact person (full name).

06.02 Mobile

The field must be filled in with the mobile number in the format: +country code and then the number (example: +31 123 456 789).

06.03 Email

The field must be filled in with the email address in the format xxx@xxxx.xx (example: contact@person.com).

06.04 Registration

The field must be filled in with a website address or a text.

07. Centre address

07.01 Address

The field must be filled in as follows:

The name of the centre

Address and street number

Postal number and city

Country

07.02 Phone

The field must be filled in with the phone number in the format: +country code and then the number (example: +31 123 456 789).

07.05 Email

The field must be filled in with the email address in the format xxx@xxxx.xx (example: contact@person.com).

07.06 Website

The format is: www.xxxxxxxx.xxx (example: www.centre.com).

08. Centre specifications

08.01 Number of lanes

The field must be filled in with the number of lanes in the centre.

08.02 Approaches

The field must be filled in with the brand and type of the lane approaches.

08.03 Surfaces

The field must be filled in with the brand and type of the lane surfaces.

08.04 Pin decks

The field must be filled in with the brand and type of the pin decks.

08.05 Pin setters

The field must be filled in with the brand and type of the pin setters.

08.06 Pins

The field must be filled in with the brand and type of the pins.

08.07 Score system

The field must be filled in with the brand and type of the score system.

09. Dressing specifications

09.01 Oil machine

The field must be filled in with the brand and type of the oil machine.

09.02 Oil

The field must be filled in with the brand and type of the oil.

09.03 Cleaner

The field must be filled in with the brand and type of the cleaner.

09.04 Pattern prepared by

If filled in, it then must be announced who are preparing the pattern, which might be a person (full name), a company or the centre.

When a tournament applies for adoption in an EBT, the field is mandatory and must be filled in.

09.05 Dressing done by

If filled in, it then must be announced who are doing the dressing, which might be a person (full name), a company or the centre.

When a tournament applies for adoption in an EBT, the field is mandatory and must be filled in.

10. Prize money specifications

10.01 Prize fund status

The field can be filled with either “Fixed” or “Conditional”.

10.02 Calculation method

If 10.01 are filled with “Conditional”, this field must include a complete calculation method of the conditional prize fund based on number of players, when the number of players changes the prize fund etc. If 10.01 are filled with “Fixed”, the field can be deleted.

10.03 Tax on prizes

The field can be filled with either “Yes” or “No”.

10.04 Tax rules

If 10.03 are filled with “Yes”, this field must include a complete explanation on how the taxes are calculated and if there are any exceptions etc. If 10.03 are filled with “No”, the field can be deleted.

11. Prize money expressed in XXX

Present the currency of the prize money at the headline of the section and present the full prize list and the total sum for all categories in the tournament.

12. Tournament format

This field must include a full description of each stage of the tournament (normally a qualification and a number of final rounds).

For each stage it must be explained:

Number of games in the stage

The number of players to continue to the next stage

If the pin fall is carried forward to the next stage

How not qualified players and losers of a stage (matches) will be ranked

13. Tournament tie rules

Tie rules for all stages in the tournament must be specified, normally such as:

14. Lane assignment and lane movements

All fields in Group 14 are mandatory when a tournament applies for adoption in an EBT.

14.01 Lane draws

We recommend the following text: “By impartial notaries public”.

14.02 Players per pair in squads

Present the number of players per pair of lanes in qualification squads.

14.03 Frequency of movement

The field can be filled with for instance: “After each game” or “After each second game”.

14.04 Movement method

The field can be filled with for instance: “Left lanes moves left, right lanes moves right”.

14.05 Number of lanes to move

The field can be filled with for instance: “Two lanes in small and four lanes in big squads” (if the house is big enough for a 4 - or even a 6 - lane movement).

15. Booking policies

All fields in Group 15 are mandatory, when a tournament applies for adoption in an EBT.

15.01 Booking restriction before

For a re-entry tournament we recommend the filed to be filled in with “A maximum of three squads can be booked before the tournament starts and maximum two of the bookings can be for squads on Wednesday and Thursday”.

15.02 Booking restriction during

The field can be filled with “Unlimited” or a text indicating a restriction.

15.03 Total number of bookings

The field can be filled with “Unlimited” or a text indicating a restriction.

15.04 Booking cancellations

Then the text is either “Possible” or “Impossible”. We strongly recommend “Possible” as the most normal and natural for a re-entry tournament.

15.05 Registration deadline

The text can either be “none” or “XX minutes before”, where XX can be maximum 30.

16. Tournament schedule

A complete tournament schedule including all qualification squads and final stages must be presented. A standardized squad calculation is 3 hours for squads with 4 players per pair of lanes and 4.5 hours for squads with 6 players per pair of lanes, in both situations the dressing time must be added (half an hour for centres of 16 lanes or less and 1 hour for bigger centres)

17. Hotels provided by the organizer

If it is possible to order accommodation at hotels with agreements with the organizer (either through the organizer or through the hotel directly), the hotels can be listed in this field together with their addresses, contact information and hotel rates etc.

When a tournament applies for adoption in an EBT, the field is mandatory and must be filled in.

18. Other information

The field might be used for any other kind of additional tournament information at your choice. The amount of information must be within reasonable limits.
